Representatives of The Climate Reality Project Brasil and Centro Brasil no Clima (CBC) will participate next Tuesday (22/03), at 9 am, in the first stage of the 12th Municipal Environment Conference in the municipality of Rio das Ostras, in Baixada Coast of Rio de Janeiro. The institutions will be represented by the regional coordinator of the Climate Reality Project in Brazil and CBC consultant, Renata Moraes, who will address the importance and strategies of raising awareness of the local population about climate change and sustainability.
The first phase of the event takes place virtually and is a preliminary meeting to discuss the central themes of the conference, which starts on March 26th. This year’s theme is “Mitigation and Adaptation to Climate Change in the municipality of Rio das Ostras” and the event will be divided into three thematic axes: environmental vulnerability, coastal erosion and environmental education. This year, the conference takes place in person at Colégio Professora América Abdala, in the Nova Esperança neighborhood. For Renata Moraes, the most important thing when it comes to climate education is to talk about the topic in an accessible way and, above all, in a way that people understand their role in preserving nature.
“There is a lot of content available on environmental issues, but it is essential that this information be transmitted in a simple and light way to people, so that they can become aware of the theme. It is important that people engage in these agendas and understand that they are also protagonists in this matter, that the environment, sustainability and climate change are everyday themes”, says Renata Moraes.
