The participation in forums, networks, and councils has been ensuring CBC the possibility of reverberating strategic issues to different actors and stakeholders, while allowing it to join forces with other organizations that also act to halt climate change.

ACA – Alliance for Climate Action
Launched in January 2021, ACA Brazil is the Brazilian version of ACA Global, which currently has nine national alliances around the world. Climate Action Alliances are national coalitions dedicated to undertaking systematized measures and increasing public support in tackling the global climate crisis in order to help countries meet the commitments agreed to in the Paris Agreement. In Brazil, WWF Brasil, ICLEI South America, the Instituto Clima e Sociedade, CDP Latin America, and the Centro Brasil no Clima have joined together to coordinate the establishment of the Climate Action Alliance.
Race to Zero
CBC supports Race To Zero, a global UN campaign that brings together non-state actors from around the world committed to a green, resilient, carbon-free economic recovery and to achieving net zero emissions by 2050. According to December 2021 figures, 733 cities, 31 regions, 3,067 companies, 173 major investors, and 622 institutions of higher education in 120 countries have already joined the campaign.
Rio de Janeiro City Council
Reactivated in May 2021, the City Council of Rio de Janeiro intends to build a new strategic plan for the economic recovery and future of Rio. CBC’s executive director, Guilherme Syrkis, is one of about 350 new councilors, who were invited to present proposals for improvements for the city in six pillars: Cooperation and Peace, Equity and Equality, Well-Being and Connected Territory, Economic Development, Competitiveness and Innovation, Climate Change, and Resilience.
CIF – Climate Investment Funds
As the only Brazilian organization among 21 observers worldwide, CBC was selected as a civil society observer for the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) between 2021 and 2023. Today, as one of the largest climate finance mechanisms, the CIF contributes to low-carbon economic development, strengthening 39 projects in 19 countries around the world.
Sustainable Tax Reform, mediated by RAC
The Centro Brasil no Clima and 12 other civil society organizations participated in the “Sustainable Tax Reform” campaign between 2020 and 2021. The idea is to create a tax system with simple and feasible rules, socially fair, that walks towards the transition of the country’s green economy, encouraging the generation of new jobs and the well-being of the population.
Brazilian Conference on Climate Change
We have been part of the group of brokers of the Brazilian Climate Change Conference since 2019, which aims to influence civil society to contribute to efforts to achieve Brazil’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) target to the Paris Agreement, in addition to combating climate change. The CBC has already organized 14 panels during the three editions of the conference.
Certified Public Charity
We have been recognized as Certified Public Charity, a title recognized by the Internal Revenue Service of the United States, certifying that a given organization from outside the USA has equivalent status to a philanthropic institution in that country. This makes our management and compliance even more robust, and facilitates the receipt of donations from US and international companies and NGOs.
