Since its inception, this vein already proved very strong in the launch and immediate success of the campaign <\/span>Ratify Now!<\/b><\/em>The Brazilian government was encouraged to ratify the Paris Agreement in the record time of two months. In addition, the performance of Alfredo Sirkis, CBC’s executive director, as executive coordinator of the Brazilian Climate Change Forum between 2016 and 2019 are another strong demonstration of the institution’s performance in advocacy on climate policies.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since October 2020, when the <\/span>
\n 1st International Governors for Climate Meeting<\/span>
\n<\/a> was the vector for the consolidation of the coalition <\/span>Governors for Climate<\/b>This line of action has been gaining even more prominence and practical developments in the policies adopted by the Brazilian states. These have been taking the lead in Brazilian climate action, supported by the articulation of the CBC, which not only provides qualified information to decision makers, but also indicates paths for the adoption of concrete public policies to confront the climate emergency.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/a>.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/toggle][toggle color=”Accent-Color” heading_tag=”h4″ title=”INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS”][vc_column_text]International articulations are part of our DNA since the creation of CBC To mobilize international actors in support of the Brazilian climate action, we participate and coordinate several events, as well as encourage the engagement of subnational governments in international articulations. Some examples of CBC’s activities in this area include active participation in international forums such as the Conferences of the Parties of the Climate Convention (COPs) and Climate Weeks, in addition to the prominent incidence in the negotiations of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement in 2015. <\/span><\/p>\n

In 2020 and 2021, despite the pandemic of COVID-19, through effective work to establish and maintain partnerships, we have managed to open or improve concrete channels of dialogue and action with the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It is worth highlighting the CBC’s performance<\/a> in <\/span>26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change <\/b>(<\/span>COP26)<\/b>It will take place in November 2021 in Scotland. We had intense activity during the conference, with emphasis on the <\/span>meetings with Prince Charles and former US President Barack Obama.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/toggle][toggle color=”Accent-Color” heading_tag=”h4″ title=”STUDIES”][vc_column_text]How to<\/span>

\n<\/i> Whether with its own productions, or having its consultants participate in collective publications or reports, this arm of CBC’s work fulfills the function of qualifying and disseminating the in-depth knowledge that is part of CBC’s essence.<\/span><\/p>\n

The urgency of taking action indicated in <\/span>
\n Agenda 2030*<\/span>
\n<\/a> generates an immediate demand for analysis on costs of implementing climate projects compared to the losses and damages caused by climate change. Demonstrating that doing good for the environment is also good for other sectors has been a common action strategy in CBC’s studies and projects, besides being an increasingly pressing demand from society.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/toggle][toggle color=”Accent-Color” heading_tag=”h4″ title=”TRAINING AND MOBILIZATION”][vc_column_text]Within the projects carried out by CBC, there is often a training component to help all kinds of audiences – from state agency technicians to journalists, for example – to better understand how the climate fight relates to their respective jobs and impacts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our main training arm is the program <\/span>
\n The Climate Reality Project<\/span>
\n<\/a>, represented in Brazil by the CBC since 2016. In it, the target audience is broad, including all of society. The annual trainings – started in 2006 by Al Gore and that will move to a virtual format by 2020 – have reached a number of 1,732 trained Brazilians, the so-called Climate Reality Leaders.<\/span><\/p>\n
